Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Reporting straight to the Mine Manager, you'll run all Geotechnical functions, signing off on decisions, developing your Junior Geotechnical Engineer, managing contractors.
Getting the most out of the remaining ore body is the target, with 3 years LOM remaining, so close interaction with the Tech Services team is essential.
Working to a project deadline (pending current local exploration) puts you in a visible position to further develop your reputation for high safety standards and a strong production focus.
Day to day challenges presented by narrow vein mining with a close tolerance using mechanized mining methods and truck haulage.  
Res in Victoria, choice or 5 local primary schools and  a good mid-sized high school.
6-8 years UG Geotechnical experience post-Graduate, good role for a Senior on a larger site wanting broader and higher level responsibilities.

Currently we have a great opportunity available for a Mining Engineer to join the team at Dawson Mine. Dawson is one of our largest operations and presents a unique opportunity for someone who is looking to build their experience in the Coal mining industry.

Ideally we are seeking an applicant who has had some exposure to Dragline and or Truck/Shovel operations. Reporting to a Senior Mining Engineer you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and groom yourself for career progression.

Relevant skills and experience:

• 1-2 years experience

• Experience in developing mine plans

• Knowledge of the Coal mining process

Aligning growth and improvement projects with department strategies and goals, you will have a significant involvement in project identification and selection. Reporting to the Study Manager, you will assist in the overall development of planning systems, improving design execution within short term scheduling processes.

With site based mining construction / operations experience, you will possess relevant tertiary engineering or commercial qualifications. An understanding of financial analysis and modeling is required, whilst demonstrated working knowledge of decision analysis techniques including deterministic and probabilistic evaluation will be advantageous.
