Mine Planning Engineer

Our Wilpinjong mine commenced mining in late 2006, but will produce eight million tonnes this year and has plans well under way to ramp up production to eleven million tonnes by 2011. Conveniently located 40km north-east of Mudgee, this low cost open-cut mine is a growing operation offering residential lifestyle with future career options.

An exciting opening currently exists for an experienced Mine Planning Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, this role is primarily responsible for the medium and long term planning and ensuring that contractors’ plans align with Peabody’s requirements.

The key areas of responsibility for this role include:

  • Development and maintenance of suitable XPAC models for the operations medium and long term requirements
  • Prepare monthly 12 month forecasts, including review and short term schedules
  • Development of optimal LOM plan annually, including assessing opportunities and risks
  • Update and manage mining reserves as required, including planning and management of drilling programs

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Hold a degree in Mining Engineering
  • Have previous open cut mining experience, preferably within the coal mining industry

The company is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to add to their technical and mining engineering team working from the Perth office with the occasional site visit as necessary.

Based in our Brisbane office, the Project Development Group (PDG) is tasked with becoming a Centre of Excellence for the undertaking of studies and delivery of significant and sustaining capital projects within BMA. The Project Development Group provides project delivery services to BMA through the management of all phases of the investment life cycle.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst to work with our Development Team, providing long term investment evaluation and strategy decision support.

Tasked with the preparation and maintenance of detailed valuation models for growth and improvement projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis of variances, trends and risk, along with the identification of key business drivers and opportunities. Aligning growth and improvement projects with department strategies and goals, you will have a significant involvement in project identification and selection. Reporting to the Study Manager, you will assist in the overall development of planning systems, improving design execution within short term scheduling processes.

With site based mining construction / operations experience, you will possess relevant tertiary engineering or commercial qualifications. An understanding of financial analysis and modelling is required, whilst demonstrated working knowledge of decision analysis techniques including deterministic and probabilistic evaluation will be advantageous.
