A comfortable 80kms drive south west of Bowen, you will find the farming and mining town of Collinsville, where we operate a 5.7 mtpa open cut coal project. Close to Bowen and 150kms from the Whitsundays, the Collinsville Coal project produces up to nine product coal types for export and domestic customers. Thiess has a life of mine contract that requires complex planning to achieve product specifications from this multi-pit, multi-seam operation.

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will lead the mining production team to achieve outstanding results in safety, productivity, innovation, quality and cost management, you will also be responsible for delivering individual and team production targets through a cooperative approach with the workforce. A key part of your role includes accountability for coaching and mentoring the Senior Mining Supervisor and Mining Supervisors for continuous improvement and personal development. You will ensure that we are a “plan driven” organization and will foster a strong relationship with the technical services team to achieve the required outputs.

Your previous experience as a Mining Superintendent or as a Senior Supervisor in an open cut dragline operation will be complemented by your planning, organizational and analytical abilities, people management and staff development skills. Advanced leadership skills are essential for this position as are strong computer skills, financial acumen and contractual awareness.
