Mine Planning Engineer

Our Wilpinjong mine commenced mining in late 2006, but will produce eight million tonnes this year and has plans well under way to ramp up production to eleven million tonnes by 2011. An exciting opening currently exists for an experienced Mine Planning Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, this role is primarily responsible for the medium and long term planning and ensuring that contractors’ plans align with Peabody’s requirements.

The key areas of responsibility for this role include:

• Development and maintenance of suitable XPAC models for the operations medium and long term requirements
• Prepare monthly 12 month forecasts, including review and short term schedules
• Development of optimal LOM plan annually, including assessing opportunities and risks
• Update and manage mining reserves as required, including planning and management of drilling programs

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Hold a degree in Mining Engineering
• Have previous open cut mining experience, preferably within the coal mining industry
• Previous high level experience with XPAC is essential; Vulcan and Microsoft Office would be beneficial
