As the company expands its product and technical capacity, we are seeking a professional Senior Drill and Blast Engineer for our Goonyella site team.

DRILL AND BLAST ENGINEER - QLD

The key purpose of this position is to provide technical leadership to enhance Downer EDI Mining – Blasting Services site operations to be at best practice drill and blast.

Specifically the role is accountable for:
• Conduct the Drill & Blast design process at the site location
• Support the planning process that links client demand with all drill and blast activities
• Facilitate the preparation of some recommendations to improve the blasting performance, involving the expertise within Downer EDI Mining – Blasting Services and the client operation.
• Implement, assess the recommendations in agreed timeframes
• Integrate all blasting practices and any improvements into standard site operating processes

Applicants will be tertiary qualified in either civil or mining engineering, ideally with post graduate experience in a blasting or related field with technical and analytical skills in relation to mining activities and mining equipment.

The successful incumbent will generate all drill and blast designs for application at our QLD site, provide clear communication to Downer EDI Mining – Blasting Services personnel to allow the correct implementation of such designs, implement systems, conduct review and assessment, support the contract and provide financial evaluation of new systems, tools or concepts.
