Why does the job exist?

As a Mine Planning Engineer you will provide technical assistance to ensure mining activities are undertaken in a safe, cost effective and environmentally appropriate manner to a standard prescribed by HWE Mining Contracting. You will be involved in the short-term mine planning process, utilising mine design, mine scheduling and pit optimisation tool. You will assist in developing budgets and forecasts for the mining team to meet site strategic objectives.

Yandi is a FIFO BHP Billiton Iron Ore mine. HWE Mining handles over 55 million tonnes of iron ore per annum at Yandi and provides a complete mining service including drilling and blasting, loading and hauling, processing, train loading, infrastructure management and maintenance. The site is equipped with a medical centre and recreational facilities include a gymnasium, swimming pool, tennis court and cricket nets.

What skills and experience do you need?

We are looking for a highly skilled individual who has a relevant tertiary qualification and wishes to work in dynamic environment. You will have a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in the mining or resources sector with a Mining Engineering (or equivalent) Degree. You must have strong communication skills and be a lateral thinker.
